Welcome
Welcome to Wood Doctor Alaska!

Over the last three years we have seen the cost of living in Alaska climb drastically. Here in the Interior of Alaska, we have experienced increasing costs of fuel and electricity, a fluctuating economy, and air quality issues that threaten some of our abilities to survive economically.

We heat about 7500 sq. ft. Over the last three years, we have spent $8000 to $12,000 a year on fuel oil alone. We had no backup heating system. And we needed to pay our other bills!
We had to do something!

After massive research we discovered a wood heating system that would help us cut the cost of fuel and our usage of electricity. It will also comply with the impending air quality emissions standards, the “chimney smoke ordinances,” that are looming in the Fairbanks North Star Borough.

Wood Doctor Boilers actually convert burning wood into gas, then burn the gas. It burns in an upside down fire. The smoke rises up into the wood storage chamber, burns the wood and then reburns the smoke. The smoke out of the stack is only about 100 degrees and the clean emissions dissipate in about 100 feet!

This amazing process has drastically cut our cost of living! During the winter of 2009-2010, we only used 200 gallons fuel oil in our backup oil boiler system, and only burned about 6 cords of wood. Remember, that’s heating 7500 square feet! Our savings on fuel oil have paid for our boiler and all our electricity in one winter!

Now we can concentrate on paying off our other bills!
